Lodge Porter (Day Shift) – Reception & Security

About the role

The Lodge Porter works the day shift at Lady Margaret Hall, providing front‑desk reception, customer service and security for the college. You will be the first point of contact for staff, students, visitors and conference guests, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome and assist all visitors, answer enquiries by phone, email and in person, and manage the Lodge’s telephone and email systems.
• Issue parking permits, keys, fob access and manage meeting‑room bookings using college software.
• Control site access, conduct regular patrols, monitor alarm, fire, CCTV and respond to incidents or emergencies.
• Provide first‑aid assistance when required and report faults according to college procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of the Lodge and surrounding areas and ensure uniform presentation.

Required profile

• Reliability, honesty and a strong work ethic with the ability to work unsupervised.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to relate to a wide range of people.
• Flexibility to adapt to variable workloads and shift patterns.

Required skills

• First Aid certification (training provided if required).
• Basic computer literacy and ability to use college software systems.

• Salary of £28,687.51 per year for a 39‑hour week.
