Maintenance Engineer – Heavy Industrial (Electrical/Mechanical)

About the role

This is a secure, long‑term opportunity with a well‑established heavy‑industrial recycling operation. Working outdoors at Trafford Park, you will join a dedicated maintenance team to keep large‑scale plant and mobile equipment running at peak performance.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs on plant and equipment.
• Complete maintenance records using the CMMS system.
• Raise and review permits, risk assessments and method statements.
• Investigate equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Attend maintenance and progress meetings as required.
• Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and policies.
• Report hazards, defects and unsafe conditions.
• Support continuous improvement activities across the site.

Required profile

• Maintenance experience in a heavy‑industrial environment.
• Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification (Level 3 or equivalent).
• Ex‑military or forces background welcomed.

Required skills

• Hydraulic circuit testing and fault‑finding.
• Valve and solenoid troubleshooting.
• Hydraulic cylinder, pump, valve or actuator rebuilding/resealing.
• Welding.
• Electrical and mechanical maintenance of industrial plant.
• CMMS documentation.
• Permit‑to‑work handling, risk assessment and method‑statement preparation.
