Maintenance Technician (Water)

About the role

Equans is seeking a Maintenance Technician specialised in water systems to join the facilities team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. This full‑time, permanent position involves delivering planned and reactive maintenance to ensure safe, efficient water services across the hospital estate.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance, testing and breakdown repairs on water‑related plant.
• Maintain and service TMV units, water tanks, chlorine dioxide (CLO2) units, showers and water plants.
• Perform temperature checks and ensure compliance with water hygiene standards.
• Interpret drawings, specifications and work instructions without supervision.
• Produce reports, calculations and recommendations for optimal plant performance.

Required profile

• NVQ or City & Guilds Level 2 in Heating, Ventilation & Plumbing.
• Legionella, TMV and disinfection awareness training.
• Desirable: NVQ/C&G Level 3, Water Hygiene Qualification, HTM 04 RP/CP training.
• Previous experience in a healthcare environment is advantageous.
• Ability to pass a DBS Standard check.
