Management Accountant – Exeter

About the role

Isca Recruitment is seeking a proactive Management Accountant to join a dynamic professional services business in Exeter. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will prepare management accounts, analyse performance and support strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing monthly management accounts with variance analysis, accruals, pre‑payments, journals and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and VAT returns.
• Processing payroll data, posting payroll journals and approving purchase invoices.
• Supporting internal and external audits and providing cost analysis for budget holders.
• Contributing to system and process improvements and guiding junior finance staff.

Required profile

• Recent experience of month‑end duties, journal entries and management account preparation.
• Strong reconciliation and analytical abilities with high attention to detail.
• Proactive, self‑starter attitude and ability to work independently.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Relevant qualification (AAT, ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or equivalent experience.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (look‑ups, pivot tables, large data sets).
• Proficiency with accounting software.

• £40,000‑£45,000 salary, dependent on experience.
