Marketing & Communications Executive

About the role

The West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC) is seeking a Marketing & Communications Executive to join its Communications team. Based in Birmingham, you will help promote the West Midlands as a premier destination for investment, tourism, business and talent through strategic media relations and compelling content.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Corporate Communications Manager in delivering communications strategies, campaigns and media activities.
• Monitor regional, national and international media coverage, identifying opportunities to raise the profile of the West Midlands.
• Produce regular media‑monitoring and evaluation reports to measure impact.
• Draft high‑quality press releases, articles, case studies, quotes, presentations and other communications materials.
• Assist in developing and maintaining key messaging, briefing documents and regional fact sheets.
• Coordinate journalist visits and build relationships with media partners and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Experience in communications, public relations or media relations, preferably within a regional or place‑marketing context.
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, engaging content.
• Proactive attitude and ability to work collaboratively with a team and external partners.
• Interest in supporting economic development and regional promotion initiatives.
