Mechanical Design Manager – Building Services

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Manager with a strong background in building services to lead the design of multi‑million‑pound projects for the Ministry of Defence, education and healthcare sectors. The role offers full autonomy, remote working and a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, specification and review of HVAC, water distribution and fire‑suppression systems.
• Ensure designs meet budget, schedule and client requirements.
• Produce detailed mechanical design documentation and attend site meetings.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across defence, healthcare, education and commercial projects.

Required profile

• Qualified Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in building services.
• Proven ability to manage design projects autonomously.
• Experience working on large‑scale projects for public sector clients.

Required skills

• HVAC system design
• Water system design
• Fire‑suppression system design
• Mechanical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit)
• Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS)
