Mechanical Engineer – HVAC & Mechanical Systems Maintenance

About the role

Our client needs a Mechanical Engineer to deliver urgent mechanical system maintenance across a busy London site. This six‑week temporary role offers a fast‑paced environment where you will work closely with a mobile supervisor and contract delivery manager to keep building services running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, pumps, motors and other mechanical equipment.
• Respond to emergency service calls and implement immediate solutions to minimise downtime.
• Utilise the CAFAM (Computer‑Aided Facility Asset Management) system (Vantifie) to track work orders, schedule maintenance and update equipment records.
• Generate reports on asset performance, maintenance costs and system efficiency.
• Act as the primary technical liaison with clients, providing status updates and recommendations for improvements.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection reports and compliance documentation.

Required profile

• City and Guilds or NVQ certification preferred.
• Previous experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a plumbing or HVAC role.
• Strong communication skills for client and team interaction.

Required skills

• HVAC system knowledge.
• Experience with pumps, pressurisation units and closed water systems.
• Proficiency in using CAFAM systems (Vantifie) for work‑order management.

What we offer

• Temporary six‑week contract.
• Rate of £38.00 per hour.
• Full‑time onsite work, Monday‑Friday 8 am‑5 pm.
