Mechanical Fitter

About the role

Our client, a specialist engineering company in Sunderland, is seeking a Mechanical Fitter for a permanent, day‑shift position. You will be assembling and building specialist products, working from engineering assembly drawings and ensuring high‑quality output.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret engineering assembly drawings and work instructions.
• Check parts before commencing assembly.
• Assemble and fit components to create sub‑assemblies.
• Install and test control systems.
• Deliver assemblies within the defined time and quality standards.
• Follow manufacturing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Required profile

• Time‑served Mechanical Fitter or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience building special‑purpose machines.
• Proven experience in mechanical assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation such as drawings and work instructions.

Required skills

• Interpretation of engineering assembly drawings.
• Mechanical component assembly.
• Control system installation and testing.
• Reading and applying technical documentation.
