Mid-Market Underwriter – Motor Fleet

About the role

We are seeking a Mid‑Market Underwriter focused on Motor Fleet to join a leading UK insurer’s Manchester team. You will combine hands‑on underwriting with proactive broker relationship management, working across the North West to grow and protect mid‑market motor fleet portfolios.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite mid‑market motor fleet risks for renewals and new business, assessing risk profiles and setting profitable terms within delegated authority.
• Build and maintain strong broker relationships through regular face‑to‑face meetings, understanding their needs and positioning the insurer as their preferred partner.
• Identify growth opportunities, provide expert advice and tailored solutions to support brokers.
• Manage multiple cases and deadlines efficiently while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Proven motor fleet underwriting experience at the mid‑market level.
• Strong analytical mindset with a solid understanding of FCA regulations.
• ACII qualification (or working toward) and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills for effective broker engagement.
