Multi‑Skilled Shift Engineer (Electrical/Mechanical)

About the role

We are looking for two dedicated Multi‑Skilled Shift Engineers to join the estates team of a major acute hospital in Birmingham. The role involves maintaining electrical and mechanical services across critical clinical areas on a 14:00‑22:00 shift.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance, testing and reactive repairs across the hospital estate, including ITU, A&E and operating theatres.
• Ensure all engineering services meet contractual obligations, industry best practice and Health Technical Memoranda (HTM) standards.
• Manage assigned tasks via CAFM and digital management tools to achieve site performance KPIs and SLAs.

Required profile

• Electrical qualifications: 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and City & Guilds 2360/2330/2357 Level 3 or equivalent.
• Testing & inspection certification: City & Guilds 2394 or 2395.
• Ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications independently and work safely in a clinical environment.
• Desirable: HNC/HND in a relevant engineering discipline and experience with Medical Gas (MGPS), Ventilation (HTM‑03) or HV/LV systems.

• Hourly rate of £23.00
• Full‑time shift: Monday‑Friday 14:00‑22:00 with a 30‑minute break
