Network Engineer

About the role

Work on technology that protects what matters. SiXworks builds secure digital solutions for defence and national security missions, and is looking for a Network Engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical challenges with real operational impact.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and deliver secure digital solutions in highly secure environments, collaborating with engineers, architects and delivery specialists.
• Implement and support wide‑area network (WAN) architecture, software‑defined WAN, routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP, and VPN/NGFW security infrastructure.
• Create configuration guides and translate high‑level and low‑level designs into operational networks, including data‑centre spine/leaf fabrics.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with WAN, SD‑WAN, VPN, firewall rule implementation and network security in protectively marked environments.
• Ability to work independently, troubleshoot on the fly and communicate professionally with customers.
• Strong curiosity, problem‑solving skills and motivation to continuously improve technology design and delivery.

Required skills

• WAN Architecture, SD‑WAN, OSPF, BGP
• VPN technologies (IKEv2), Next‑Generation Firewalls
• Data‑centre network design – spine/leaf, EVPN, Geneve
• Automation/orchestration tools such as Ansible and Terraform
• White‑box networking (Mellanox, Cumulus Linux, Nvidia)
• NSX troubleshooting and Cisco CCNP‑level knowledge
