About the role

Join a highly respected Legal 500‑rated construction team in Birmingham. This newly qualified solicitor position offers the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of construction matters across multiple sectors in a friendly, non‑hierarchical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Advise clients on a wide range of construction law issues, including regulatory compliance.
• Draft and negotiate construction contracts, using standard forms such as JCT and NEC and bespoke terms.
• Support clients through large‑scale procurement exercises and long‑term partnership agreements.
• Provide training and guidance to clients unfamiliar with construction processes.
• Collaborate with colleagues on overlapping areas such as procurement law, energy and waste projects.
• Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to team development.
• Participate in client meetings and presentations, delivering complex legal concepts in an accessible manner.

Required profile

• At least 6 months experience in a non‑transactional seat during a training contract.
• No prior construction experience required, though it is desirable.
• Ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly to non‑specialist clients.
• Willingness to develop expertise in large‑scale procurement and construction law.

Required skills

• Drafting and negotiating construction contracts (JCT, NEC).
• Knowledge of construction law and regulatory frameworks.
• Procurement advisory experience (advantageous).
• Client communication and mentorship abilities.
