Occupational Therapist – Band 7 (Term-time)

About the role

We are recruiting a Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join the multidisciplinary therapy team at a specialist SEMH school in Sevenoaks. The role is term‑time only, 30 hours per week across four days, and focuses on supporting students aged 9‑19 to develop independence, life‑skills and emotional wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and produce professional reports with recommendations.
• Design and deliver individualised therapy programmes tailored to each student’s needs.
• Provide specialist advice and guidance to teaching and support staff.
• Deliver training sessions for the wider school team.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues, including speech and language therapists, play therapists, clinical psychologists and other occupational therapists.
• Support students’ emotional, social and functional development and prepare them for adulthood or reintegration into mainstream education.

Required profile

• Qualified Occupational Therapist registered with the HCPC and a member of RCOT.
• Experience working with children and young people, preferably aged 9‑19, and a strong understanding of SEMH needs.
• Confident in carrying out assessments and developing therapeutic programmes.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Solution‑focused, adaptable and passionate about improving outcomes for young people.
