About the role
The Perioperative Practitioner/Nurse/ODP will join the surgical team at the Western General Hospital, providing patient‑centred care throughout the peri‑operative pathway. This role is part of NHS Lothian’s commitment to high‑quality, compassionate and safe surgical services.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver peri‑operative nursing care to patients before, during and after surgery.
- Support the surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment and adhering to infection‑control standards.
- Participate in clinical education, induction and preceptorship programmes for new staff.
- Contribute to leadership initiatives that align with NHS Lothian’s Strategic Plan and values.
- Document patient information accurately and ensure compliance with NHS policies.
