Perioperative Practitioner / Nurse / ODP

The Western General Hospital is recruiting a Perioperative Practitioner/Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner to join a strong, empowered nursing family. The role offers the chance to develop leadership skills while delivering safe, compassionate care in the operating department.

Key responsibilities

• Provide peri‑operative nursing care to patients throughout surgical procedures.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anaesthetists and other team members to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Participate in clinical education, induction programmes and preceptorship to support staff development.
• Uphold NHS values, promoting an inclusive and respectful environment for patients and colleagues.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse or qualified Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with relevant registration.
• Demonstrated commitment to NHS Scotland’s equality and diversity agenda.
• Leadership qualities, caring and compassionate approach to patient care.

Required skills

• Clinical knowledge of peri‑operative processes and patient safety standards.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
