Peripatetic Chef

About the role

The Peripatetic Chef will travel between Barchester Healthcare care homes across North London and the South East, preparing fresh, seasonal meals for residents. This role offers a balanced work‑life schedule with alternating weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and prepare nutritious meals using fresh, seasonal ingredients for multiple care homes.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety in each kitchen.
• Adapt menus to meet residents' dietary requirements and preferences.
• Collaborate with on‑site staff to ensure smooth service delivery.
• Manage kitchen supplies and stock levels while on the move.

Required profile

• Qualified chef with NVQs/SVQs or City & Guilds equivalent.
• Strong understanding of nutrition and seasonal cooking.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a personable approach to resident wellbeing.
• Ability to work independently across several locations.

Required skills

• Up‑to‑date food hygiene knowledge.
• Kitchen management and stock control.
