Platform Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Platform Engineer to design, build and maintain a scalable, secure and high‑performance data platform. You will work closely with data scientists, analysts and engineering teams to ensure reliable data services across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable data platform infrastructure on Linux environments.
• Ensure high availability, performance and security of data services.
• Develop, optimise and support data pipelines.
• Collaborate with data teams to integrate tools and services.
• Troubleshoot complex platform and data infrastructure issues.
• Support cross‑team integration with wider systems and applications.
• Drive continuous improvements in platform architecture and design.

Required profile

• Strong experience in platform engineering or operations on Linux.
• Experience with data platforms or big‑data environments and understanding of data lake architectures and governance.
• Solid knowledge of security concepts such as encryption, access control and vulnerability management.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, Ansible or Puppet.
• Familiarity with containerisation technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Nice to have experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins), data tooling (Airflow, NiFi, Elasticsearch) and Hadoop ecosystems (Spark, Hive, HDFS).
