Postal Delivery Driver (Part‑time Contractor)

About the role

Join Royal Mail as a Postal Delivery Driver in Birmingham, working part‑time on a six‑month fixed‑term contract. You will deliver letters and parcels across your local area, using a Royal Mail van and on foot, while providing a friendly service to the community.

Key responsibilities

• Sort letters and parcels at the Birmingham delivery office.
• Deliver post by van and on foot, covering up to 12 miles (20,000+ steps) per day.
• Build relationships with customers and deliver a variety of items, from exam results to business orders.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including weekends and Sundays.
• Follow a rotating shift schedule and adhere to delivery routes as assigned.

Required profile

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points) registered to your current name and address.
• Willingness and ability to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit – able to walk long distances, climb stairs or hills, and lift/carry mailbags of 10 kg or more.
• Reliable, self‑motivated and able to work independently.
• Strong organisational skills and resilience in a busy, time‑pressured environment.
