Primary Education Advocate

About the role

The Hope Virtual School is looking for a Primary Education Advocate to join its child‑centred team in Bristol. This permanent, full‑time position works hybrid and focuses on improving educational outcomes for children and young people in care during the primary phase.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with schools, carers, parents and partners to remove barriers to education early.
• Develop and monitor Personal Education Plans (PEPs) to support attendance, engagement, attainment and transition.
• Use data to track progress, identify emerging needs and inform caseload management.
• Promote high‑quality practice across networks, celebrating the work of designated teachers and schools.
• Escalate complex cases and coordinate multi‑agency planning with the phase leadership team.
• Plan and review the use of Pupil Premium Plus funding to maximise impact.

Required profile

• Strong belief in education as a protective factor for children and young people in care.
• Experience working within the education system, understanding its complexity and the needs of vulnerable children.
• Proven track record of improving educational outcomes for children and young people.
• Ability to build excellent relationships with young people, education settings, social‑care colleagues and families.
• Commitment to inclusion, early intervention and high aspirations for all learners.
