Primary Intervention Teaching Assistant

About the role

Aspire People is recruiting experienced Teaching Assistants to deliver 1:1 and small‑group interventions in primary schools from September 2026. The role focuses on helping pupils close gaps in reading, phonics, maths and writing, and supporting SEND where required.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 and small‑group interventions
• Support pupils with reading and comprehension
• Provide phonics and early reading support
• Deliver maths and numeracy interventions
• Help pupils develop writing skills
• Identify and address gaps in learning
• Adapt activities to individual pupil needs
• Monitor progress and feed back to teaching staff
• Support pupils with SEND where required
• Build confidence, independence and engagement

Required profile

• Level 2/3 TA qualification or relevant experience
• Recent UK primary school experience
• Previous intervention experience
• Strong understanding of the primary curriculum
• Good knowledge of phonics, reading, English and maths
• Patient and encouraging approach
• Ability to build strong relationships with pupils
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Experience supporting Pupil Premium, SEND or below‑age‑related expectations (beneficial)
