Principal Civil Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to lead design excellence on large‑scale data centre and infrastructure projects. You will own the technical delivery from concept through construction, shaping master‑planning and earthworks strategies while mentoring the engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead civil engineering design for complex, high‑value data centre and infrastructure developments.
• Define and influence master‑planning, site feasibility and earthworks approaches at early project stages.
• Conduct technical reviews, ensure compliance with codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
• Engage with clients and internal stakeholders to align design solutions with project objectives.
• Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers through guidance, design reviews and coaching.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering (BEng/BSc or equivalent).
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership.
• Proven experience delivering civil engineering design for large, complex projects.
• Strong knowledge of earthworks, drainage, external works and infrastructure design.
• Confidence leading technical delivery, client engagement and design reviews.
• Solid understanding of relevant civil engineering codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
