Principal DevOps Engineer (SC Clearance) – Manchester

About the role

We are seeking a Principal DevOps Engineer with Security Clearance (SC) to join a leading consultancy delivering cutting‑edge solutions for public sector and defence clients. The role is based in Manchester with a hybrid working model.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain cloud‑native platforms for mission‑critical projects.
• Lead the delivery of DevOps solutions across multiple high‑impact initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
• Ensure reliability and performance of production Linux environments.

Required profile

• Active SC clearance or eligibility.
• Based in Manchester or able to travel there regularly.
• Proven experience in senior or principal DevOps / platform engineering roles.

Required skills

• Strong Linux expertise (RHEL/CentOS).
• Version control with Git (GitHub or GitLab).
• AWS cloud infrastructure and IaC using Terraform.
• Kubernetes and Docker container technologies.
• CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Bamboo) and automation.
• Understanding of micro‑services, cloud‑native architecture.
• Ansible for configuration management.
