Principal Engineer AI Transformation

About the role

This senior engineering position sits at the heart of a fast‑growing financial services firm that is placing AI at the centre of its technology strategy. You will work closely with senior leadership and influence how AI is adopted across the organisation while operating in a modern, low‑legacy environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and delivery of AI and machine‑learning solutions across multiple projects.
• Act as the go‑to engineering expert for AI, guiding internal teams and external partners on best practices.
• Integrate AI capabilities into the broader software development lifecycle and establish standards for responsible use.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to shape the AI roadmap and strategic direction.

Required profile

• Proven experience at Principal or Lead level in an AI‑focused engineering environment.
• Strong track record of designing and delivering production‑grade AI/ML solutions.
• Hands‑on experience with large language models (LLMs) and prompt engineering.
• Comfortable leading engineers while staying technically involved.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, especially with senior business leaders.
• Experience in financial services or other regulated sectors is a plus.
