Principal Java Engineer

About the role

As Principal Java Engineer you will provide technical leadership for GTI’s core SaaS platform, reporting directly to the CTO. You will own the technical direction, architecture and engineering standards while mentoring engineers and collaborating with product, data, operations, DevOps and QA teams.

Key responsibilities

• Own application architecture and technical direction across multiple products and services.
• Design, implement and review high‑quality Java and full‑stack solutions, APIs and integrations.
• Lead performance optimisation, scalability and resilience initiatives.
• Drive security best practices, vulnerability remediation and secure SDLC processes.
• Provide technical leadership across Agile teams, translate business requirements and remove delivery blockers.
• Define and champion engineering standards, conduct design and code reviews, and author development processes.
• Lead root‑cause analysis of complex production issues and improve system observability.

• Java 21 (LTS) and JVM performance tuning.
• Spring Framework 6 / Spring Boot 3.5.
• Hibernate ORM 6.6+, JPA.
• Apache Tomcat 11.
• REST APIs, OpenAPI, microservices and event‑driven architecture (RabbitMQ).
• Docker, Kubernetes, AWS and Linux.
• CI/CD pipelines with GitLab and Jenkins.
• Observability tools for logging, metrics and monitoring.
• MySQL, Apache Solr.
• Front‑end UI development (e.g., Angular) and modern node‑based frameworks.
