About the role

Reflection is a research lab building open AI models and agentic search capabilities. The Product Counsel, Data & Search will lead legal support for data acquisition, model training, and emerging search products, ensuring compliance with US and international AI regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary legal advisor for pre‑training and data teams, interpreting evolving laws on data acquisition, privacy, IP, and AI regulation.
• Guide product proposals involving agentic and search‑based capabilities, translating legal requirements into actionable road‑maps.
• Design and implement data integrity standards, provenance tracking, and risk‑based compliance processes.
• Partner with product, research, engineering, safety, and compliance teams to embed responsible data controls into model releases.
• Advise on data considerations in commercial transactions, partnerships, and research collaborations.
• Monitor legal developments from US, EU, UK and other authorities, providing practical guidance to leadership.

Required profile

• J.D. with active bar membership in a US jurisdiction (or in‑house registration).
• 10+ years of product counselling experience in technology sectors, preferably AI, cloud, or advanced computing.
• Proven ability to address complex legal issues across IP, privacy, commerce, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience advising on US and international AI‑related regulations and litigation.
• Strong independent judgment in rapidly evolving legal landscapes.
