Product Development Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Product Development Engineer to join our New Product Development department in Luton. You will drive new products from concept through to volume production, working closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure robust, manufacturable designs.

Key responsibilities

• Support New Product Development (NPD) from early concept to full‑scale production.
• Collaborate with manufacturing partners to translate requirements and standards into mechanical designs.
• Plan, coordinate and support prototype builds and design iterations.
• Lead FMEA reviews and implement resulting action plans.
• Work with Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Quality, Sourcing and Supply Chain teams.
• Conduct internal product testing and coordinate external testing activities.
• Define and manage product and packaging labelling, instruction leaflets and data sheets.
• Ensure compliance with BS EN safety standards, EMC, REACH and RoHS directives.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation and support records.

Required profile

• Engineering qualification with a mechanical or electrical focus.
• Disciplined, structured approach to problem‑solving and a positive, can‑do attitude.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, product standards and quality methodologies.
• Familiarity with British/European standards and relevant legislation.
