Product Support Engineer – Diesel Engines (Field‑Based)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Product Support Engineer to provide on‑site diesel engine support for rolling stock customers across Manchester, Leeds and Salisbury. You will travel to rail depots and maintenance facilities, performing repairs, planned maintenance and fault diagnosis on diesel engines fitted to locomotives and other rolling stock.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical maintenance and repairs on rolling‑stock diesel engines, including bearing replacements and component changes.
• Diagnose engine faults, perform fault finding and execute effective repairs.
• Complete both planned and reactive maintenance activities on‑site.
• Prepare accurate service documentation and maintenance reports.
• Liaise professionally with customers and internal engineering teams.
• Travel between customer sites and stay overnight when required.

Required profile

• Previous experience working on diesel engines in rolling stock, heavy plant, HGV, military or similar sectors.
• Strong mechanical fault‑finding and repair capability.
• Ability to work safely following railway industry standards.
