Project Worker – Missing from Care (Temporary)

About the role

This temporary position supports a national children’s charity by delivering specialised support to young people who have gone missing from care. Working on a three‑month contract, you will join a multidisciplinary team to ensure vulnerable children receive timely, person‑centred assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Missing from Care return interviews and assess risk.
• Identify support needs and develop appropriate interventions.
• Manage a caseload of referred young people.
• Collaborate with social care, education, police and other partner agencies.
• Promote safeguarding and adhere to all relevant procedures.
• Maintain accurate case records and contribute to service reports.
• Empower children and young people to have a voice in decisions affecting them.
• Deliver services within a non‑judgemental, anti‑oppressive and culturally inclusive framework.

Required profile

• Recent, relevant experience working directly with vulnerable young people.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and assessment processes.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Proven capacity to work accurately under pressure.
• Collaborative and proactive approach, able to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Current, clean driving licence with access to a personal vehicle.
• Eligibility for an enhanced DBS check due to unsupervised contact with vulnerable children.

• £14.34 per hour (plus holiday pay).
