Purchaser – Procurement Specialist

About the role

The Purchaser will ensure the continuous and efficient availability of goods and materials needed to support operational and customer requirements for a leading food and non‑food distributor. You will translate demand and inventory needs into timely purchasing actions while balancing cost, lead times and supplier performance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor purchasing requirements and adhere to supplier contracts and commercial arrangements.
• Request, evaluate and compare supplier quotations and support price negotiations.
• Maintain accurate master data and purchasing records for articles and assortments.
• Verify receipt of goods against purchase orders and resolve any discrepancies.
• Support the Purchasing Manager in process improvement projects and continuous optimisation of procurement activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (CIPS qualification is a plus).
• Proven experience in purchasing or procurement.
• Good understanding of procurement, supply‑chain, demand‑supply planning and inventory management principles.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, preferably Sumatra or Exact.
