Qualified Social Worker – Family Help Service

About the role

The London Borough of Hackney is seeking a qualified Social Worker to join its Family Help Service. This full‑time, temporary position will deliver high‑quality, statutory‑compliant support to children and families, ensuring timely assessment and intervention.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of children and families, gathering information through interviews, observations and multi‑agency collaboration.
• Analyse and summarise evidence to produce clear, holistic reports that inform safeguarding decisions.
• Develop and implement focused intervention plans, using systemic and social learning approaches.
• Manage Child Protection Plans in line with London’s child protection procedures and court requirements.
• Review and reassess cases regularly, adapting plans as new evidence emerges.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker (QSW) registration.
• Newly qualified (ASYE) candidates are welcome; reduced caseload and close supervision will be provided.
• Commitment to statutory guidance and the borough’s supervision policy.
• Ability to balance risk and protective factors within a child‑protection framework.

• Knowledge of UK child protection legislation and statutory guidance.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret complex evidence.
• Effective written and verbal communication for concise reporting.
• Proficiency in using assessment and case‑management tools.
