About the role
On behalf of Birmingham City Council, we are seeking a Quality Project & Compliance Officer to join the Environmental Health team. This 12‑month temporary position will support continuous improvement, quality assurance and project delivery that protect public health and ensure regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of quality, compliance and project management processes for the Environmental Health service.
- Coordinate and oversee multiple projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope and aligned with quality and safety standards.
- Conduct audits, inspections and risk assessments, monitoring compliance with legislation, regulations and best practice.
- Investigate incidents and non‑compliance issues, implement corrective actions and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare performance reports, support internal and external audits and maintain the quality management system.
- Promote a culture of quality, safety and operational excellence across the team.
Required profile
- Proven experience in quality assurance, compliance, project management or continuous improvement within a regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems, audit processes, risk management and health & safety compliance.
- Ability to interpret legislation and translate requirements into practical operational procedures.
- Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills with a collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement.
Required skills
- Knowledge of ISO standards and corrective‑preventive action processes.
- Experience in performance reporting and staff training.
What we offer
- 12‑month fixed‑term contract with the possibility of extension.
- Hybrid working – based in Aston, Birmingham with remote days.
- 35‑hour week, Monday‑Friday, 9am‑5pm.
