R&D Tax Manager

About the role

The R&D Tax Reliefs Manager will lead the delivery of R&D tax credit claims for a diverse portfolio of clients, working within a fast‑growing top‑40 accountancy and advisory firm. You will collaborate with experienced tax professionals and accountants to expand the firm’s R&D offering while maintaining high technical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of R&D tax relief claims from initial scoping to submission.
• Manage and oversee a varied client portfolio across multiple sectors.
• Prepare detailed, technically robust R&D technical reports.
• Produce accurate costings for each claim.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building long‑term relationships.
• Ensure compliance with evolving R&D legislation and HMRC guidance.
• Support the wider team and contribute to the development of the R&D function.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience managing R&D tax relief claims.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK R&D tax legislation.
• Proven ability to manage your own client portfolio and relationships.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and a client‑focused approach.
• Commercial awareness and motivation to contribute to business growth.
• Confidence in using systems and technology to enhance delivery.
