Residential Children’s Worker – Residential Care

About the role
Join the team at Hillview Children’s Home in Chinley to provide therapeutic, residential care for up to four children aged 8‑18. You will work within a small, supportive staff group delivering 24‑hour care in line with legislative and policy standards.
Key responsibilities
- Provide daily support, guidance and supervision to children.
- Address educational, social and emotional needs in a person‑centred manner.
- Work shift patterns including early, late and sleep‑in duties to ensure 24‑hour coverage.
- Maintain accurate records and adhere to Children Act, Quality Care Standards and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.
Required profile
- Openness to relationship‑focused, psychologically informed practice.
- Ability to use initiative in a residential setting.
- Willingness to hold or obtain a Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce Diploma (or equivalent NVQ 3) within two years of start.
Required skills
- Understanding of trauma‑informed practice and social pedagogy.
- Knowledge of the Children Act and relevant regulatory frameworks.
What we offer
- Shift‑based pay: £16.77‑£17.79 per hour (7 am‑7 pm), £22.36‑£23.72 per hour (after 7 pm), £33.54‑£35.58 per hour on bank holidays.
- Sleep‑in duty rate £36.19 per hour, with double rate for duties spanning bank holidays.
