Risk Lawyer

About the role

Join a leading national law firm’s Risk & Compliance team as a Risk Lawyer. Based in Manchester with flexible remote working, you will provide specialist legal advice on risk, governance and regulatory matters across the firm.

Key responsibilities

• Manage partnership office matters, including lateral partner onboarding, retirements and drafting complex governance documentation.
• Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure compliance during internal transitions and partner moves.
• Review, draft and negotiate client engagement terms, outside‑counsel guidelines, framework agreements and panel terms.
• Assess supplier agreements to mitigate commercial and operational risk.
• Conduct periodic reviews of firm‑wide policies, recommend enhancements and drive implementation.
• Provide practical advice on SRA Standards, Regulations, Principles and Codes of Conduct.
• Advise on regulatory requirements for the Law Societies of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland.
• Engage with external regulators and act as a trusted risk advisor to internal stakeholders.
• Support the development and mentoring of junior analysts and compliance specialists.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with a minimum of three years’ post‑qualification experience.
• Direct experience in risk management and negotiation of sophisticated contractual arrangements within a law‑firm environment.
• Strong analytical, communication and organisational abilities.
• Proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively.
