School Caretaker (Full‑time Temporary)

About the role

We are looking for a reliable caretaker to join a well‑established independent school in Birmingham. This full‑time temporary position starts ASAP and involves maintaining a safe, clean, and functional learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• General upkeep, maintenance and safety of school premises.
• Carry out statutory testing and checks (fire alarms, extinguishers, fire safety, meter readings, water checks).
• Act as keyholder – lock up the site, secure windows, doors, gates and alarms.
• Identify and address hazards promptly.
• Escort and communicate with contractors on site.
• Assist the Grounds Person with lawn and playing‑field care.
• Support preparation for school or lettings events (moving chairs, erecting staging).

Required profile

• Previous experience in a caretaking or maintenance role.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements such as COSHH and Manual Handling.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check (or already hold one).
• Flexible and self‑motivated attitude.
