Science Technician – Practical Science Support

About the role

The school in Westminster is seeking a motivated Science Technician to provide practical science support across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. You will work closely with teachers to ensure laboratories are fully prepared, safe and ready for each lesson.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare practical materials and equipment according to lesson requirements.
• Set up laboratory spaces before practical sessions and clean/store apparatus afterwards.
• Support teachers with demonstrations, experiments and equipment checks.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment, consumables and stock levels.
• Carry out basic equipment checks, report faults and ensure laboratory cleanliness.
• Follow all safety, COSHH and school procedures.

Required profile

• Degree‑level education in a relevant science subject or comparable technical experience.
• Enhanced DBS registration (or willingness to obtain) and eligibility to work in the UK.
• Highly organised, detail‑oriented and safety‑conscious.
• Effective communicator who can work collaboratively with teaching staff.

Required skills

• Operation of laboratory equipment.
• Practical science procedures across biology, chemistry and physics.
• Knowledge of COSHH and school safety protocols.
