SEN Learning Support Assistant – Outreach & Intervention

About the role
This full‑time, long‑term position supports children and young people who are not currently accessing mainstream education. Working primarily in homes, community settings and alternative provisions, you will help learners re‑engage with education and build confidence.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver tailored learning and intervention sessions to children with SEMH, ASD and complex needs.
- Support emotional regulation, routine building and engagement in varied outreach environments.
- Reduce barriers to learning and attendance by working closely with families, schools and support services.
- Encourage positive behaviour, progress and sustained attendance.
Required profile
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Plymouth and surrounding areas.
- Ability to obtain business insurance for travel with learners.
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (SEMH/ASD preferred).
- Calm, resilient, adaptable and able to work independently in community and home‑based settings.
