SEND Teacher – Special Needs / Complex Needs (Start Sep 2026)

About the role
We are looking for a passionate SEND Teacher to join a specialist school in Birmingham from September 2026. You will work with small groups of pupils who have a range of special educational needs, including complex learning needs, autism, communication impairments and physical disabilities. The role focuses on delivering a highly personalised curriculum that promotes academic progress, communication, independence and life‑skills development.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver differentiated lessons for small classes of SEND pupils.
- Support pupils’ communication, independence and personal development.
- Create a calm, structured and inclusive classroom environment.
- Collaborate closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists and senior leaders.
- Use sensory, practical and creative approaches to engage learners.
- Assess, monitor and record pupil progress against EHCP targets.
- Contribute to the development of personalised learning plans.
Required profile
- Qualified teacher with QTS.
- Genuine interest in SEND and willingness to work in a specialist setting.
- Experience in a SEND or complex needs school is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
