SEND Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (Manchester)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a forward‑thinking secondary school in Manchester. You will work closely with the SENCO and teaching staff to provide personalised support for pupils with a range of special educational needs, fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with SEND, adapting resources to individual needs.
• Collaborate with teachers to create engaging, inclusive lessons.
• Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Monitor pupil progress and communicate updates to staff and, where appropriate, parents or carers.
• Promote positive behaviour in line with school policies.

Required profile

• Previous experience working in a school or educational setting.
• Strong understanding of a variety of SEND categories (e.g., ASC, ADHD, moderate learning difficulties, emotional and behavioural challenges).
• Patience, adaptability and a calm, nurturing approach.
• Relevant qualification such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant (desirable).
• Enhanced DBS registration or willingness to obtain one.
• Full‑time availability from September 2026.
