Senior Architect – Lead Mixed-Use Projects

About the role

David Kohn Architects is looking to recruit a senior architect to lead high‑profile projects and drive the studio’s broader development. The successful candidate will lead the delivery of a major civic project and become a key member of the practice.

Key responsibilities

• Lead project team, stakeholders and consultants on mixed‑use development across all RIBA stages, emphasizing collaborative design and target performance.
• Advocate for carbon‑negative futures at all stages and benchmark design against sustainability targets.
• Build and maintain relationships with key clients to ensure continuity and future collaborations.
• Embody and contribute to the studio’s identity and design ethos.
• Work closely with directors, inspire success and deliver scope within agreed resources and timeframes.
• Lead and contribute to new business acquisition through bids, design competitions, industry and public engagement.

Required profile

• 5‑10+ years of experience delivering sustainable mixed‑use projects of at least £40 million construction value.
• Proven delivery of low‑carbon or BREEAM excellent/outstanding designs.
• Strong knowledge of UK processes and standards.
• Commercially astute, delivering projects within timescales, cost and budget constraints.
• Rigorous approach to brief development, design and materiality with a high‑quality portfolio.
• Strong presentation skills with an emphasis on hand sketching.
• Experience working with BIM (Revit).
• Knowledge of architectural history, David Kohn Architects’ work and design approach.
