Senior Associate – Clinical Negligence

About the role

This senior position sits within a well‑established claimant law firm that specialises in high‑value clinical negligence claims. You will manage a portfolio of complex cases while contributing to the growth of the department.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of multi‑track clinical negligence claims from inception to settlement or trial.
• Handle high‑value matters such as birth injury, brain injury, surgical error and delayed diagnosis.
• Draft pleadings, witness statements and schedules of loss.
• Instruct and liaise with medical experts and counsel.
• Conduct liability and quantum investigations and negotiate settlements.
• Support and mentor junior fee earners.
• Participate in business development and maintain client relationships.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive, typically 6+ years PQE (applications from experienced candidates outside this range are welcome).
• Proven experience in claimant clinical negligence work.
• Strong technical ability across complex, high‑value claims.
• Experience managing files independently and supervising junior staff.
• Excellent communication and client‑care skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
• Proactive and commercially aware approach.
