Senior Backend Developer

About the role

Narwhal Labs is building an AI‑powered communications platform and needs a senior backend engineer to design, scale, and own the core infrastructure. You will work on integrating large language models and other machine‑learning services into production while mentoring junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build scalable APIs and microservices primarily using Python.
• Integrate AI/ML features and LLM‑powered services into live products.
• Contribute to platform architecture, long‑term roadmap, and cloud strategy.
• Mentor junior developers through code reviews, pair programming, and coaching.
• Collaborate with product, design, and AI specialists to deliver high‑impact features.

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend development experience with strong Python expertise.
• Experience with .NET/C# and PHP is a plus.
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, authentication, and database design.
• Hands‑on experience with a major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Practical exposure to AI/ML frameworks or LLM API integrations.
• Natural mentor who enjoys growing junior talent and strong communication skills.
