Senior Clinical Coder ACC

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior ACC Clinical Coder to join Ramsay Health Care in London. Working primarily from home with regular visits to hospital sites, you will be responsible for coding NHS and private admitted patient episodes, ensuring compliance with national coding standards and timely data entry.

Key responsibilities

• Apply the four‑step coding process to analyse and extract clinical information from MAXIMS electronic case notes, nursing notes, consultant notes, investigations and histology reports.
• Accurately assign ICD‑10 diagnosis codes and OPCS‑4 procedure codes using the encoder and enter data correctly into hospital systems.
• Interpret medical terminology across a range of specialties and adhere to NHS England and WHO coding standards.
• Manage workload to meet internal and external coding deadlines, including daily coding volume targets.
• Raise coding queries with clinical teams when documentation is unclear and support them in understanding coding importance.
• Lead coding audit findings, address errors in real time and ensure KPI achievement.
• Provide coding support and cover across multiple hospital sites as needed.

Required profile

• Demonstrable expertise in ICD‑10 and OPCS‑4 clinical coding.
• National Clinical Coding Qualification (NCCQ) – Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC) certification or equivalent.
• Experience coding NHS and private admitted patient episodes.
• Ability to work independently, organise and prioritise workload.
