Senior Construction Manager

About the role

The Senior Construction Manager is the primary technical authority for all on‑site construction activities, ensuring delivery to approved designs and contractual requirements. Reporting to the Area Project Manager, the role may also act as Principal Contractor, overseeing the issuance of construction contracts.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure competence of construction resources, including subcontractors.
• Develop and apply processes for quality and configuration management of deliverables.
• Provide data for progress reporting and construction management assurance.
• Meet construction, quality, test and commissioning programme targets.
• Coordinate communication and conflict resolution among contracts manager, client, subcontractors and trades.
• Liaise with facility managers, Operational Safety Case teams, and design authorities (e.g., DNSAG for nuclear projects).
• Lead integrated programme planning, including lay‑down areas, parking, accommodation, and material logistics.
• Manage construction teams in line with established procedures, monitoring input/output via CEMAR.
• Create and approve pre‑construction information, health & safety plans, safe systems of work, and waste management plans.
• Supervise site construction teams and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior construction management, preferably with principal contractor responsibilities.
• Proven ability to lead integrated project teams and manage complex construction programmes.
• Strong competence in coordinating with multiple stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors and regulatory bodies.
• Experience working on nuclear or high‑risk infrastructure projects is advantageous.
