Senior Environmental Advisor – 2 positions

About the role

We are seeking two Senior Environmental Advisors to join a leading infrastructure contractor on a major UK civil‑engineering project. Working from Birmingham, you will support the Environmental Manager and construction teams to ensure compliance and drive the project’s Environmental Management System.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day environmental guidance to site and construction teams.
• Carry out environmental inspections and audits across the site.
• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the Environmental Management System, including ISO 14001 requirements.
• Monitor and report on water quality, waste handling, ecology, noise, dust and pollution‑prevention measures.
• Identify, record and manage environmental risks, incidents and corrective actions.
• Prepare regular environmental performance reports and promote best‑practice procedures.
• Mentor and support junior members of the environmental team.

Required profile

• Proven environmental experience within construction, infrastructure or civil‑engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of Environmental Management Systems and ISO 14001.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct environmental inspections and audits.
• Degree in an environmental or scientific discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Practitioner‑level IEMA membership or equivalent qualification.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Experience with environmental consents is advantageous but not essential.
