Senior Financial Controller

About the role

KennedyPearce Consulting is seeking an experienced finance leader to oversee financial reporting, accounting operations and governance for a complex international business within the sports and media sector. The role is senior, hybrid (3‑4 days onsite), and involves shaping the future finance function while developing a high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the accounting function, including month‑end close, financial consolidation and statutory reporting across multiple entities.
• Produce accurate monthly, quarterly and annual results and review commercial contracts for accounting implications.
• Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP, US GAAP and other international standards.
• Assess emerging standards and lead implementation of new reporting requirements.
• Develop and maintain a strong financial control environment, internal policies and governance frameworks.
• Drive process improvement through automation, system enhancements and cross‑functional finance projects.
• Lead statutory audits, manage external auditor relationships and support group audit activities.

Required profile

• Proven senior finance leadership experience in an international, fast‑moving environment.
• Deep knowledge of UK GAAP, US GAAP and other applicable accounting standards.
• Strong track record of building robust controls, governance and audit processes.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and champion technology‑driven finance transformation.
