Senior Flood Risk Consultant

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Flood Risk Consultant to join a growing flood risk and water environment team in Manchester. This position offers the chance to lead technical delivery, manage projects and build strong client relationships within a supportive, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review Flood Risk Assessments for residential, commercial and infrastructure developments.
• Deliver assessments covering fluvial, surface water, groundwater and other flood sources.
• Develop drainage strategies and SuDS solutions in line with UK guidance and planning requirements.
• Conduct hydrological and hydraulic assessments, interpret flood mapping and modelling outputs.
• Engage with the Environment Agency, LLFAs, planners and other stakeholders.
• Provide technical input for planning applications and development proposals.
• Manage projects from inception to completion, including budgets, programmes and client communication.
• Review technical reports and mentor junior consultants.
• Support business development through proposals and tenders.

Required profile

• Degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Hydrology, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• 6+ years’ experience in flood risk, hydrology or drainage consultancy.
• Strong experience preparing Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies.
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.

Required skills

• GIS proficiency (ArcGIS or QGIS).
• Hydraulic modelling.
