Senior Manager, Licensing Applications

About the role

Checkout.com is seeking a dynamic Senior Manager to lead its global licensing applications within the Global Affairs team. Reporting to the Director of External Affairs, you will own the end‑to‑end execution of licensing strategies, driving regulatory expansions across new and existing markets from our London hub.

Key responsibilities

• Lead preparation, drafting, and submission of major regulatory license applications worldwide (EMI, PI, local payment method or central bank approvals).
• Transform vague regulatory frameworks into structured project plans and coordinate multi‑layered application materials to meet local standards.
• Bridge External Affairs, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Finance and Product teams, aligning internal roadmaps with regulator commitments.
• Craft narratives and formal briefs for central banks, regulators and executive leadership, and support local teams during pre‑licensing interviews and audits.
• Monitor global regulatory trends, assess market entry feasibility and advise leadership on risks and opportunities.
• Build scalable internal frameworks and playbooks to accelerate speed‑to‑market for regional expansions.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, legal, government relations or strategic expansion within the FinTech/payments ecosystem.
• Proven track record of writing, managing and delivering complex financial services licensing applications across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong project‑management skills, able to handle large, multi‑departmental deliverables under tight deadlines.
• Deep regulatory fluency with ability to translate technical requirements into commercial and product actions.
• Exceptional written communication, capable of producing clear, outcome‑focused narratives for C‑suite and regulators.
• Highly autonomous, comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving rapid global scaling.
