Senior Pre-operative Assessment Nurse (Band 6)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, motivated and compassionate Band 6 Pre‑operative Assessment Nurse to join our Pre‑operative Assessment team at University College London Hospitals. You will be responsible for assessing patients before surgery to ensure they are safely prepared for their planned procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out comprehensive pre‑operative assessments for a full range of surgical patients.
• Identify and manage clinical risks, providing advice and education to patients.
• Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to optimise patients for surgery.
• Escalate complex cases appropriately and support junior colleagues.
• Contribute to service improvement, audit and quality initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Band 6 experience in pre‑operative or surgical settings.
• Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to manage risk.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Commitment to delivering patient‑centred, safe care.
