Senior Software Engineer – Agentic Workflows

About the role

Causaly is building the world’s most advanced biomedical knowledge platform powered by a high‑precision Knowledge Graph and GenAI. As a Senior Software Engineer you will own the platform that orchestrates long‑running, multi‑agent workflows used by scientists to audit evidence.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve the workflow definition model, including control flow, fan‑out, conditional execution and static validation.
• Build a durable execution engine with checkpointing, retry, abandonment policies and idempotency guarantees.
• Instrument monitoring, tracing and cost attribution across services and languages to support pricing decisions.
• Integrate LLMs with structured outputs, guardrails, citation integrity and deterministic fall‑backs.
• Provide technical leadership: write design proposals, break large changes into shippable increments and own production outcomes.

Required profile

• Significant backend engineering experience in TypeScript and Node.js.
• Proven experience building and operating distributed, LLM‑backed systems in production.
• Deep understanding of correctness under partial failure (idempotency, at‑least‑once delivery, safe retries).
• Solid knowledge of relational databases, schema design and safe migrations.
• Clear technical writing ability to produce actionable design documents.
